Ken Nevis Challenge
Burness is joining forces with two of the UK’s leading disability charities, Scope and Capability Scotland, to lead 10 teams, each of 6 people, on a challenging expedition to the top of Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis. Each team will be led by a wheelchair user, who will navigate and direct the team up the mountain in the quickest time.
The groundbreaking event, taking place on 31st May 2008, is being led by Ex-SAS TV Presenter Ken Hames, engineer of the BBC’s ‘Beyond Boundaries’ series. Inspired by recently crossing the Andes with two disabled expedition members who were wheelchair users in his ‘Beyond Boundaries 3’ documentary, Ken has thrown down the gauntlet to UK companies with the Ken Nevis Challenge.
Why we are sponsoring the Ken Nevis Challenge
Find out how the Burness team is pulling together to support the Ken Nevis Challenge
The Beyond Boundaries television series offered some truly inspiring stories and I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to help to deliver another. In 2007 I was part of the support team for a group of Burness employees (successfully) taking the "Three Peaks Challenge" - Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike and Snowden in 24 hours. Seeing the buzz that the climbers had when they came off Ben Nevis gave me the resolve that next time I would be part of the team. It is fantastic that the Ken Nevis Challenge has given me that opportunity. For more information about the Challenge please visit Scope or Capability Scotland.
