Burness Appointed Legal Adviser to Glasgow Housing Association

Burness LLP has won the appointment to be sole legal adviser to Glasgow Housing Association Ltd (GHA), Europe’s largest social landlord, in three tender lots - Court of Session, Charities and General Legal Advice.  In addition the firm has been appointed to a panel of advisers in relation to the fourth lot - High Level Governance and Strategic Advice.

Commenting on the tender win, Stephen Philips (Head of Burness’s Regeneration Team) said:

“We are delighted to have won this prestigious appointment.  We are finding that increasingly the mid to large scale RSLs (Registered Social Landlords) are looking for a wider range of specialist skills, and more strength and depth of resource, to enable them to respond to an increasingly complex environment and more particularly, the challenges posed by the moves towards larger scale procurement, JVs and consortium working.  This is also a great fit with our regeneration practice; GHA is developing a very ambitious urban regeneration project alongside Glasgow City Council and we look forward to supporting that initiative as it moves to the delivery stage.  GHA was looking for high levels of expertise and quality across the board and Burness is pleased to have ticked these boxes.”

Julia Henderson (Head of Legal) GHA added:

"We are very pleased to build on our existing relationship with Burness and we value the firm's commitment to working in partnership with GHA’s experienced in-house legal team in delivering sensitive and sound business legal advice."

Burness now acts for three of Scotland’s largest RSLs and four out of six of Scotland’s urban regeneration companies, and a wide range of other public, private and third sector bodies involved in social housing and regeneration projects.
