Our health & safety team includes specialists in criminal, construction, litigation, environmental and employment law. Clients value our multi-disciplinary approach.

We are one of the few teams in Scotland that has a former procurator fiscal depute within our ranks.  Director Diane Turner uses her 13 years experience of prosecuting and defending crime to advise on effective management of health & safety liability.

Contentious

The contentious lawyers in the team spend much of their time managing regulatory investigations and prosecutions. Our approach is, whenever appropriate, to engage in a constructive dialogue with the investigating authorities and prosecution regulators. This has been successful in bringing an early end to a number of investigations and criminal proceedings.

We represent clients at fatal accident and public inquiries, and have recently been involved in many major inquiries in Scotland including the ICL inquiry into the Stockline Factory gas explosion, loss of the fishing vessel Trident and the loss of the tug Flying Phantom.

Non-contentious

We provide pro-active advice on risk management strategies.  Our team provides health & safety audits to minimise exposure to liability and ensure better safety for our clients’ employees, and those who may be affected by their operations. Our non-contentious health & safety lawyers are well placed to advise on the avoidance of incidents - and can ensure our clients are prepared for them when they happen.
