Our pensions team is one of the strongest and largest in Scotland, and it is establishing a UK-wide reputation.

The highly regarded team has six dedicated specialist pensions lawyers. It includes senior directors Margaret Meehan and Alison Shackleton who are recognised by Legal 500 for their expertise in pensions law.

Our aim is simple: to provide commercial and practical legal advice that focuses on finding solutions to meet our clients’ needs.

The team services a truly impressive range of clients on an array of pensions matters.  We advise clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to multi-national corporations, local authorities to not-for-profit and charitable organisations, pensions professionals and trustee boards in relation to a wide variety of pensions issues both contentious and non-contentious. 

Our services include project-specific or continuing provision of legal advice to employers and trustees, document reviews, bespoke trustee training, and independent trustee services through our trustee company, Burness Pension Trustees Limited.
