Burness Appoints Head of Pensions Practice
Burness has appointed partner Sarah Phillips as head of its pensions practice. She will lead one of Scotland's strongest and largest pensions teams, distinctive for its UK-wide reputation with clients including ITN, Liberty, Harper Collins and Scottish Opera.
Sarah trained at Clifford Chance and joined us from specialist pensions boutique Sackers in London. She has significant experience in advising pension scheme trustees and employers on all aspects of pensions law, and in particular restructuring and liability management and the pensions aspects of corporate transactions.
Commenting on her appointment, chairman Philip Rodney said:
"We are delighted with Sarah's appointment as practice head. Her style is perfect for leading our unusually dynamic and accessible approach to pensions law. Her professional and management credentials are outstanding and she will direct the team in developing a robust strategy to assist clients in managing the pensions issues they face in this difficult economic climate. The demise of final salary schemes, the increasing role of the pensions regulator in corporate transactions and the administrative responsibility of auto enrolment are just some of the burning issues we are assisting businesses with just now."
Our 6 strong pensions legal team also includes senior and highly rated directors Margaret Meehan and Alison Shackleton, frequently singled out for their aptitude in legal directories.
